Late works

Later in Claude Monet's life around the time he had lived and painted in the town and his imfamous house of Giverny, France. Monet around this time had produced series of paintings which had been known for. He would take the same subject and reproduce the same scene at different times of day and seasons.

Much of which he had been famous for were his series of his lily pond which he had built and cultivated himself. This series was titled Nympheas and depicted the lily pond at different views, angles, times of day, and as it had blossemed. At this time the series he had been creating showed a great deal of the intense brushwork at its peak. The colors are almost swirl-like and active creating a sense of stillness and emotion.
